Anna Russakoff will present a paper at the 46th International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo, MI in May entitled, “The Power of Visuality: Miracles of the Virgin in the Illustrated Vie des Pères Manuscripts.”

Anna Russakoff specializes in Gothic illuminated manuscripts, and she is particularly interested in image-text relationships, miracle-working images, and female patronage. She has received fellowships from the Medieval Academy of America, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the American Association of University Women. Professor Russakoff wrote her dissertation on representations of miraculous Marian images in illustrated manuscripts of "Les Miracles de Notre Dame" by Gautier de Coinci. She is currently editing a volume on Jean Pucelle, and preparing a book proposal about representations of miraculous images of the Virgin Mary in French illuminated manuscripts. Her teaching interests range from Classical Antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages.
