Karl Dunz joined AUP in 2003 after
spending several years teaching secondary mathematics and
economics in a Louisiana distance education program.
Previously, he taught in the economics departments of the
State University of New York at Albany and Tulane
University. He has taught all levels of microeconomics,
public finance, and mathematical economics from the
undergraduate through the Ph.D. level. At AUP he is teaching
courses in microeconomics, international economics, game
theory, econometrics, and mathematical methods in economics.
Karl Dunz received a Ph.D. in economics
from the University of California, Berkeley after obtaining
undergraduate degrees in economics and mathematics at
Washington University in St. Louis. His fields in graduate
school were mathematical economics and public finance, which
are also the areas of his past research. The primary focus
of that theoretical research was on incorporating land
and/or houses into general equilibrium models, including
those with local public goods. He has also recently written
a paper, which is a direct result of his teaching at AUP, on
export subsidies. Another of his current research projects
is an examination of the bargaining between political
parties that took place between rounds of the 2004 French
regional elections. |
