Anatole Bloomfield was first appointed at AUP in 2000 as a specialist in Business French as well as in teaching French as a Foreign Language and French Culture as a Foreign Culture.

He particularly specializes in teaching French as a professional foreign language for business and public administration. He therefore focuses his teaching activities on politics, diplomacy and military issues.

Since 1993, Anatole Bloomfield has been developing with passion a particularly dense, structured panel of professional complementary activities/experiences in the field of French as a Foreign Language, both in France and abroad (for instance, he was appointed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve during two years, 1994-1995, in the Cultural Service of the French Embassy at the French Cultural Institute in Edinburgh and Glasgow- SCOTLAND-UK).

His research interests include:

1) Project in progress : Doctoral Thesis in Linguistics/Didactology of Languages and Cultures, Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III, Provisional title and subject of thesis : « La problématique des identités culturelles chez un groupe d’apprenants de niveau avancé en français langue étrangère : le cas des publics étudiants étrangers de l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. Etude d’Anthropologie Culturelle» . ( The problematic of cultural identities within a group of advanced level learners in French as a Foreign Language : the specific case of foreign students at the l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. Research study in cultural anthropology ).

2) The strategies of use and the operating uses of the immediate environment for teaching and learning a target foreign language, within the context of linguistic immersion: the empirical case of the urban Parisian environment.

3) The creation of instructional materials in relation to the above "problématique".

Co-writer and co-director of a new series of educational textbooks and CDs to be published by CLE-International Editor (forthcoming 2011 and 2012). This series of textbooks is based and focused on the actional approach in FLE (French as a Foreign Language) learning/teaching.
