The Office of Financial Assistance of The American
University of Paris is available to help students access a variety of
funding programs to contribute towards university fees and
living expenses. Eligibility for each program varies, based
on the strength of each student’s program application, and
level of financial need. |
Students may be eligible for a tuition grant based on a
combination of merit and need. The average award is between
10 to 25% of tuition and the maximum award is 50%. |
Research assistantship opportunities are available within
individual graduate programs and in other departments at AUP.
These opportunities are limited and remain up to students to
arrange directly with their professors. |
There are many outside sources of funding that students can
also
apply for. |

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) |
Completion of this United States government application
is required for all American students who wish to apply
for a tuition grant or for loans. After the FAFSA is
processed, a Student Aid Report is sent to the student
indicating the amount of the expected family
contribution. This number is derived by using standard
federal methodology approved by the U.S. Congress. You
can apply directly through the Web for the FAFSA. |

Tuition Grants |
In keeping with our mission to educate students from all
over the world, AUP offers a program of
university-funded tuition grants awarded after
evaluating a student’s academic strength, professional
experience, and financial circumstances. Entering
graduate students are eligible to apply. To be
considered for a tuition grant, applicants must be
admitted to the University and submit the financial aid
application along with required supporting documentation within
a timely manner. Students must then maintain the
required minimum Grade Point Average to retain their
tuition grant from semester to semester. To download the
FA application form, see below. |

Loans |
The American University of Paris is Title IV approved
from the U.S. Department of Education and therefore able
to certify and process U.S. federal loans for eligible
students at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
In certain cases, graduate students can apply for loans
to cover all costs (tuition, fees and reasonable living
expenses) not covered by institutional aid. |
How will I get the loan money?
Your US federal loans (and/or any private
loans you decide to take out) will be paid to you through AUP in at least two
installments (generally once in the fall semester and
once in the spring semester). No installment may exceed
one-half of your loan amount. After endorsing your loan
check, your loan funds must first be applied to pay for
tuition and fees. If loan money remains, you'll receive
the funds from Student Accounting Services, unless you give AUP
written authorization to hold the funds until later in
the enrollment period. |
