Length of study

The combined MA in Middle East & Islamic Studies and International Affairs degree is a four-semester, two-year program.
 
 
 

Separate and shared curriculum

Students must complete:
 

  7 courses in the MEIS, six core courses and one elective (language optional).

  4 courses in the MAIA, two core courses and two electives.

  4 required MAIA modules

  Research or internship in the field

  Seminar in Research Methodology (PO599)

  15,000-word thesis or research project that analyzes a problematic at the core of the two programs. There is a reader from each program. Student work must be defended after completion of required coursework.
