The Center for Financial Stability of
Argentina, an
Argentinean think tank specialized on financial sector issues with
a regional scope, is interested in hiring an experienced or newly
qualified Ph.D. in economics or related fields for its office in
Buenos Aires. The areas of interest include finance and applied
micro- and macroeconomics. The main tasks of the potential
candidate would be to carry out high-quality policy-oriented
research, to produce policy notes and to write working papers for
publications. The candidate will also have to make presentations
on topics of interests to different audiences, including
interacting with regional policy makers. A permanent or fixed-term
full- time contract could be offered. An excellent command of
spoken and written Spanish and English is a must. The CEF provides

bank, is interested in hiring experienced or newly qualified
Ph.D.s in economics or related fields for its headquarters in
Madrid. The areas of interest include monetary policy,
international economics, finance and applied micro- and
macroeconomics. The main tasks of the potential candidates would
be to carry out high-quality policy-oriented research, to produce
reports for the bank's senior management, and to write for the
bank's publications. Applicants would be expected to travel and
participate in meetings organized by international institutions.
Permanent or fixed-term full- time contracts could be offered. A
good command of spoken and written Spanish would be a valuable
asset. The Banco de Espaņa provides an excellent working and

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is
interested in hiring entry level economists through its Economist
Program and more experienced economists for work in its area and
functional departments. The IMF has a membership of 184 member
countries and a staff of 2,700 (including 1,300 economists) and is
based in Washington, D.C. The work of IMF economists includes
participation in small teams monitoring the economies of its
individual member countries, as well as involvement in the World
Economic Outlook which looks at the world economy as a whole.
Economists deal, inter alia, with such issues as fiscal
sustainability, the stability of the banking system, exchange rate
arrangements and the design of international financial and
economic standards and codes. For the Economist Program, the IMF
is looking for candidates with a PhD in the areas of
macroeconomics, international finance, monetary economics and
public finance OR a Masters degree in one of these fields and at
least three years' relevant work experience, e.g., in a Central
Bank, Ministry of Finance or the research department of an
international bank, preferably involved in policy-related issues.
For entrants at mid-career, the profile is very similar but the
focus moves more to their experience and track record.

The Research Division of the FRB Atlanta
invites applications for the position of research economist with a
specific interest in Latin America. Duties include research
leading to publication in prominent professional journals and the
Bank's Review, policy analysis for Bank management, and some
public speaking. A Ph.D. in economics is required. Preference will
be given to applicants with academic or other professional
research experience, but applications from new Ph.D.'s will also
be considered. Experienced candidates must have a proven research
