"On the Characterization of Research in Latin America"

The paper documents the production of economic research on Latin America using the papers presented in the LACEA conferences as a sample. We examine the papers in detail and track their publication record. We do the same analysis for the conferences of the European Economic Association and LAMES. We supplement the analysis of the LACEA papers with a similar analysis of a database of papers by professors affiliated with economics departments in Latin American and European universities.
