Identify
whether or not your transfer credits have been officially awarded or are
still considered "pending". |
If your transfer credits have not been officially awarded
(meaning they are still pending, or in abeyance), you should
go to the Registrar's Office to find out the reason for this
and then take the necessary steps to ensure that their final
processing can be completed prior to pre-registration for the
next semester, or at the latest by the end of the first
semester of attendance at AUP. |
If you are not sure of the status of your credits, you should
log on to "Tools" under the course browser on the MyAUP
website. You should then see your own record with
credits accepted in transfer with a notation of either
‘official’ or ‘pending’ next to the course title. |

Identify
which courses are already coded with major equivalencies or with General
Education Classification (C, M, Q), Lab Science, etc. |
This can be seen under
"Tools" (MyAUP website), next to the course title under
the "Category" column. |
If the course has a pre-established equivalency, a course
number will appear in this column, or if the course is
accepted for General Education credit, the courses’
classification (C, M, Q) will be listed. |
If a course is listed with an equivalency of an AUP course
that satisfies General Education in some way, that course
accepted in transfer satisfies that same requirement as its
AUP equivalent. |
If a science course’s title bears the notation ‘with lab’,
this means that the course satisfies our lab science
requirement. No notation of lab clearly indicates that the
course does not satisfy our requirement (with the exception of
IB, AP or French Bac science courses). If your lab has not
been noted, you will need to provide proof of your lab to our
Registrar’s Office. An (E) notation indicates that the course
has been accepted as elective credit only and satisfies
neither a General Education nor a specific major requirement. |

If
you believe a course could satisfy a General Education requirement, you
should contact your advisor regarding the steps to follow. There are two
possibilities: |
Establishing an equivalency for an AUP course that carries
General Education classification. This is done by completing
our substitution paperwork that requires the course’s catalog
description, your advisor’s signature, the AUP course's
Department Chair's signature. Completed paperwork should be
submitted to the Advising Center which verifies the
completeness of the paperwork and transmits the request to the
Associate Dean of Academic Administration. |
Some courses that are not direct equivalents but could still
be suitable for General Education equivalence. Students who
would like courses considered for this should submit full
course syllabi can be submitted for our General Education to
review. These can be submitted directly to the Advising Center
which will take care of all communication between students and
the Committee. |

If
you believe a course could satisfy a major/minor requirement, you should
contact your advisor to identify the courses in question and the
appropriateness of your request: |
Establishing an equivalency for an AUP course that satisfies
major/minor credit is done by completing our substitution
paperwork. This paperwork requires the course's catalog
description, your advisor's signature and the signature of
the Department Chair for which the course is a requirement.
Completed paperwork should be submitted to the Advising
Center which will take care of verifying the completeness of
the paperwork and transmitting the request to the Associate
Dean of Academic Administration for a final approval. |
