The Department of Comparative Literature and English announces the recipients of the English Research Paper Prize 2006-2007

[Posted Nov 2007]

The Department of Comparative Literature and English is pleased to announce the recipients of the annual English Research Paper Prize, which recognizes outstanding student work in the English Writing Program.

Each year in May, one student research paper is chosen from EN 110 (College Writing) and from EN 120 (Writing and Criticism) to receive the award. After review by a committee of English and Comparative Literature faculty, the recipients of the award for 2006-2007 have been chosen: Kriti Sharma for EN 110 with a paper entitled, "The Conception of Love in John Donne's 'The Flea'"; and Renee Carmichael for EN 120 with a paper on "Writing: A Way to Incorporate a Past of Trauma into a Life". The committee applauded Kriti's close reading of Donne's poem, and was impressed by Renee's understanding of trauma theory in its application to the work of Georges Perec.
