During the graduation ceremony each year, the Board of Trustees gives its annual award recognizing one member of the faculty for exemplary teaching. It brings all of us back to our raison d'être, teaching, and emphasizes the centrality and importance that AUP accords to pedagogical excellence.

Special consideration is given to dedication of time and energy given by a professor to students, creation of powerful learning experiences, intellectual rigor in the development of courses or programs, passion for the field or subject taught, commitment to upholding the highest academic standards, as well as the way in which a faculty member has served as an inspiring intellectual role model to his or her students.
