Starting in Fall
2009, AUP will be moving to a four-course, four-credit system.
This model will encourage deeper learning in a given subject,
allowing students to read more, think more, and write more. On a
faculty level, this new system gives faculty members and
departments the opportunity to review and renew courses and
curricula with an eye to intellectual depth. Increasingly, this
is the standard model in the United States for liberal arts
learning. Students matriculating in the Fall 2009 semester will
take four courses per semester for a standard load of 16
credits. 128 credits will be required for graduation and those
credits will be distributed among General Education
requirements, major requirements, minor requirements, and
electives.
For more information
on Graduation requirements for students matriculating in the
Fall 2009 semester, please see page 21 of the
2009-2010 AUP Course
Catalog. Returning students who matriculated
prior to Fall 2009 work with their academic advisors during the
transition period to ensure that their academic program
requirements are met in a timely fashion. General academic
advising assistance is also available through the
Academic
Advising Office. |
