"Paris/Pont-Aven: The City and
the Country"
The Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art (PASCA) and The
American University of Paris (AUP) offer a joint summer
program in the arts, combining studio opportunities at
Pont-Aven with French Language in Paris.
The first two weeks are spent at AUP, where students can
enroll in a French Immersion course and earn up to five
credits. There will then be a two week break between
sessions, when students are encouraged to explore more
of France or Europe before continuing the joint program
for four additional weeks.
The studio art portion of the program takes place in
Pont-Aven, Brittany, renowned as an international
artists’ colony for the past 130 years. Paul Gauguin was
one of its many famous artists-in-residence. With small
classes, new facilities, teachers from major US art
schools and university art departments, the studio
courses at PASCA are focused and intense and explore
experimental approaches to art. Credit is granted by the
Rhode Island School of Design. |
