The AUP Office of Student Affairs provides a range of services designed to assist the entry of all students into the University and into the larger Parisian community, and to support them during their studies at AUP.

Academic Resource Center (ARC)

ARC, located on the ground floor of the Grenelle building, ARC offers research support to all students. Assistance with library and Internet research techniques is available, as is student tutoring. ARC houses the Writing Lab.

Computer Services

There are four student computer labs that offer all software necessary for research and coursework. Students have free e-mail accounts and Internet access as well as the use of printers. All campus buildings are equipped with a wireless network that allows students to use their personal laptops outside of the labs. Click here for more details.

Bookstore

The University Bookstore carries all books required for classes, except books for upper-level French courses that can be purchased in Parisian bookstores. Students should budget an average of €100 per course for books. Major credit cards are accepted.

Sports

Students may take a month’s membership at a local health club for access to the club’s tennis and squash facilities, gym, and aerobic courses. The Student Activities Office organizes evening and weekend soccer and basketball games near the campus buildings. Paris has many tennis courts and swimming pools open to the public.

Campus Security

University security guards are present at the entrances of the University buildings. Students must show their magnetic AUP identity cards in order to gain access. Visitors must be cleared by the reception desks.

Advising Center

A full-time professor is available twice a week to advise students on their course choices and academic careers.

University Library

The University Library houses over 70,000 books and provides access from anywhere on campus to the electronic edition of more than 8,000 journals. A document delivery service supplements the University Library’s collections and facilitates access to material available in other Paris research libraries. Click here for more information.

Writing Lab

The American University of Paris Writing Lab allots half-hour appointments to students requiring assistance with academic writing assignments. As this is a very popular service, students are advised to make an appointment well in advance. Hours vary during the summer. Health Care

The American University of Paris provides no health insurance coverage for visiting students during the Summer. Visitors are therefore required to have adequate health insurance coverage, including emergency repatriation coverage, during their stay in Europe. The University does provide referrals to English-speaking doctors, dentists, psychologists and other health care specialists, for any medically related problems that could arise while in France. Furthermore, the staff of the Student Affairs Department is always available and willing to advise and help.
