The
University has a free and obligatory
e-mail system, for all students.
Students are assigned an e-mail
account with this system.
Your
address will be firstname.lastname@ac.aup.fr
(e.g., carol.smith@ac.aup.fr).
If you
already have an e-mail account
elsewhere, e.g., Hotmail or Yahoo,
you can and should forward mail sent
to your AUP account to this
preferred address.
You must go
to the AUP Computer Lab during the
week of Orientation in order to get
the password to your account and to
activate it. Please do this as soon
as you arrive, as your professors,
University offices and fellow
students will be sending mail to you

Most AUP
students obtain their own
telephones, from France Telecom,
once they have moved into their new
home. The University sells
international prepaid calling cards,
which provide very favorable
telephone rates that can
significantly reduce the cost of
your international phone calls. As
well, you may choose to arrive in
Paris with a long-distance calling
card from your local telephone
company, providing reduced rates in
comparison with those of
France-Telecom for long
distance/international calls.
Contact your local telecom company
for more information and be sure to
obtain the toll free access number
for France.
Most students today, now choose to
obtain a cellular phone when they
arrive in Paris. A wide selection of
cellular phones and services are
available in France and information
will be provided at Orientation. |

Internet access
from home |
|
|
Many
students have personal computers
with which to work from home.
Internet access is readily available
throughout Paris from a variety of
Internet service providers.
The University also has a wireless
network in most of its buildings.
Students with their own laptop,
equipped with wireless network
access card, can connect to the
internet through the network.
If you already have an internet
service provider, verify if they
have a French access number. If not
the staff of the University computer
labs can provide you with
information about obtaining such
services. |
