AUP offers students from all over the world a unique educational experience, one that is, like all private education, expensive to produce. Exploration of cultural differences and diversity, comparison of traditions of knowledge, and engaged discussion and debate require small class sizes and a low teacher/student ratio.

As AUP expands its role as a provider of American liberal arts education in our unique multilingual and multicultural environment, we will use Annual Fund contributions to strengthen the following initiatives:

Advancement of scholarship by means of strategic partnerships with US and European institutions of higher learning, and hosting of world-class conference and publications.

Achievement of academic excellence by means of dynamic curricular development at the crossroads of new disciplines, such as our new major in the mathematical modeling in the social sciences. The complex questions facing our societies—such as issues of human organization, cognition, and communication—require quantitative methodologies in new synergies with qualitative approaches.

Renewal and development of AUP faculty by means of workshops, seminars, lecture series, course development and travel support to uncover “best practices” in current, worldwide disciplinary articulations. Support for visiting and endowed professorships are the most vital way to make a difference.

Scholarship aid for our strongest and most deserving applicants to ensure that the singular mix of nationalities, cultures, languages, ethnicities, and faiths that gives AUP its express character continues to be the defining dynamic of the AUP classroom.
