the beginning of February Steven Ekovich analyzed President Bush’s State
of the Union Message on French television. On February 27 he was a
member of a panel "Faut-il renoncer à comprendre le terrorisme pour
éviter de le justifier?" with Morad El-Hattab (philosopher and writer)
and Ely Karmon (Director of Research at the International Policy
Institute for Counter-Terrorism), moderated by Elisabeth Schemla
(journalist and founder of
www.proche-orient.info ). The panel was part of a conference
organized at the French Senate entitled "Camus, le terrorisme, la
conscience." Participants included Christian Poncelet, President of the
Senate; Ana Palacio, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain;
François Zimeray, former European Deputy; Marco Pannella, European
Deputy and founder of the Parti Radical Transnational; Jacky Mamou,

General Secretariat of the EU Council of the Ministers) and Thierry
Legendre (Policy Adviser-Policy Planning Unit, Office of the Secretary

panel. Hall was interviewed live on BBC World News Radio on 21 November

American political aesthetics and citizenship by looking at interlocking
changes in political marketing through branding, news values and market

and Sustainable Development’ organized under the auspices of the Bank of
Sweden Tercentenary Foundation. Hosted by Rector Candido Mendes, the
workshop brought together contributors to a forthcoming volume
tentatively called Culture, security and sustainable development
to be brought out in honor of the late Swedish anthropologist and
development activist Karl-Eric Knutsson. Isar’s chapter is entitled
‘From Culture to Conflict and Back.’ |
