the Regards Croisés / Joint Seminar 2006-2007

Columbia University Paris Reid Hall. The
paper, as well as Professor Game's response,
dealt with Gilles Deleuze's conceptions of law

Gardner latest paper, Toward “Regional
Security Communities”: NATO, the UN, and the
1948 Vandenberg Resolution has just been
published as a CIVITATIS PAPER by Civitatis
International – Researchers Without Borders, a
global governance think-tank and political

He was interviewed by BBC World Radio and VOA-China
on the potential foreign policy of
President-elect Nicolas Sarkozy. He has been
invited to speak at the World Russia Forum on

On
May 7-8 Martin Grandes visited Erasmus
University of Rotterdam and the University of
Twente to discuss potential academic
cooperation and student exchange. At the
University of Twente, he also met with Dr.
Theo van der Krogt secretary and treasurer of
the European Association for Public
Administration Accreditation (EAPAA) to
discuss the MPA accreditation process. The GSG
is a full member of EAPAA. Professor Grandes
has been invited to be member of the Academic
Committee for the Latin American and Caribbean
Economic Association (LACEA) 2007 that will
take place in Bogotá, Colombia, on October
4-6. |

Yudhishthir
Raj Isar’s co-edited book Conflicts and
Tensions, the first volume in the new
Cultures and Globalization Series (SAGE
Publications) had a second launch at the
London School of Economics on May 22, at an
evening event chaired by Professor Lord
Anthony Giddens (one of the contributors).
Isar and co-editor Helmut Anheier, Director of
the Center for Civil Society at UCLA, first
presented the project. Other speakers were
Mary Kaldor, Professor of Global Governance
and Co-Director, Centre for the Study of
Global Governance at LSE and Henrietta Moore,
Professor of Social Anthropology and Director
of the Culture and Globalization Programme,
Centre for the Study of Global Governance,
LSE. A chapter by Isar entitled ‘Reflections
of a “Peripheral Insider”. Convictions and
Dissonances’ has appeared in Ramadan, Khaled

Lissa
Lincoln has been invited to participate in a
two-day workshop around the theme of “guilt”
at the School of Politics and Sociology at
Birkbeck College, University of London, on
June 16th and 17th. The workshop consists of a
small number of people from different
disciplines – law, sociology, literary
criticism, theology, politics, psychology and
anthropology- who will discuss the notion of
guilt within an interdisciplinary context. |

addressed a report to Professor Marc Pelen for
a scholarly contribution of article length in
Middle English Studies to a Festschrift
to be published in honor of the retirement of
Dr. John V. Fleming, Louis W. Fairchild
Professor of Comparative Literature at
Princeton University. The Festschrift
is scheduled to appear in July 2009. |

Professor
Bob Swaim's documentary, '"Lumières Noires"
had its television premier on France 2 on May
10. The award winning documentary has been
selected as one of the top ten documentary
films of 2006 and is currently in competition
at the Monte Carlo Television Festival for The
International URTI Grand Prix for Author's
Documentaries Awarded by the International
Radio and Television University. The
International Grand Prix for Author's
Documentaries rewards excellence in television
productions which deal with current social
problems, and in the fields of art and
culture. |
