Have a superhero password

If you are a current member of the AUP community (student, faculty or staff) you must change your password every three months for security reasons.  If you're an alumni, you must change it every six months.

Indeed, hackers are like Lex Luthor, they will use every flaw in your password like kryptonite against you. To defeat them in advance, use a superhero password.

Your password criteria

To match the reset criteria at AUP, your password:

  • Must be at least 8 characters long 

  • Include both letters and numbers

  • Can’t be the same as your previous one

  • Can’t contain your username, first name or last name

It also must have 3 of the following 4 attributes: 

  • One uppercase character 
  • One lowercase character 
  • One numeral 
  • One special character like ! # $ % – _ = + < > @ * 

Best password practices

DO
  • ​​​​​​Make it between 8 and 12 characters long and memorable
  • Use different Passwords for different accounts (personal, bank account and AUP's)
  • Be vigilant about cybersecurity
DON'T
  • Don't share it with anyone
  • Don't write it down, either digitally or on paper
  • Avoid using too obvious a password like AUPteacher1, your date of birth, the name of your children or your pets
