Professor Piani is participating in the UN Workshop on Climate Change and Risk Analysis

September 14, 2015

Claudio PianiProfessor Claudio Piani has been invited to take part in the United Nations workshop on climate change and risk analysis this week in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

The IPCC Workshop on projected impacts from climate change and associated risks is taking place at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) from 15 to 18 September 2015. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to assess the scientific, technical, and socio-economic information relevant to the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts, and options for adaptation and mitigation.

The workshop brings together a select group of scientists from the climate modelling community, the regional modelling and downscaling community, and the climate impacts and risk communities to establish closer links and collaborations.

At AUP, Claudio Piani teaches classes on the science of climate and climate change, contemporary environmental issues and the ocean environment.
