Professor Lorenzo Ciccione joined AUP in 2022. Lorenzo was born in Italy, where he graduated in cognitive psychology from Trento University. He then moved to Paris, where he was admitted as an "élève" of the Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS Ulm). There, he obtained a research master degree in cognitive psychology and neuroscience. He then joined the SNCF (the french national railway system) as an applied cognitive psychologist, working on the innovation of the management system and on improving user experience. After this work experience, he came back to academia for his doctoral studies at the Collège de france and the Neurospin Lab, working under the supervision of Professor Stanislas Dehaene. His current research focuses on the way humans perceive and understand quantities, statistics and graphs. In 2020 he was awarded the Mind Science Foundation prize, for his work on data visualization and understanding.
