Born in San Diego, California, Professor Coffman joined The American University of Paris in the Fall of 2015. Coffman completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics at the University of Nevada, Reno. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Coffman was also a member of the Division I NCAA Men's Golf Team. He remained at the University of Nevada, Reno for his Master's degree in Mathematics, with a concentration in Operations Research and Game Theory. His teaching career began while in graduate school, teaching undergraduate math classes for non-math majors and, during the summers, teaching geometry at a private high school in San Diego. Coffman's teaching interest and motivation lie in making math accessible to all students of all mathematical levels.
