Professor Coladonato earned his PhD in Film at the University of Rome La Sapienza, with a thesis on masculinities inc ontemporary cinema. He has published several essays on stardom, gender, politics, and Italian cinema in international peer-reviewed journals. Another focus of his research concerns the French reception of Italian cinema after World War II. He is an associate researcher at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, where he co-leads a seminar on the images of populism.
