Professor Coladonato earned his PhD in Film Studies (University of Rome “La Sapienza”, 2014) with a thesis on masculinity in 21st century European and American cinema. He has published several essays in Italian and in international peer-reviewed journals, focusing on gender, stardom, and the reception and analysis of films. Another focus of his research concerns the French reception of Italian cinema after World War II. In 2015, he obtained the "qualification aux fonctions de maître de conférences" in France, and is currently co-leading a research seminar on the images of populism at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
