Core Capability: Independent, Creative Thinkers

You will be able to articulate your dreams and professional goals as well as the purpose of your education. You will think critically about your place in the world and your role in its future. Looking ahead, the GPS Program encourages you to engage in career exploration, navigating resources and identifying professionally transferable strengths, skills, knowledge and experiences. Identify essential resources at AUP and elsewhere to make intentional choices today that align with your vision for the future. You should be able to mobilize life experiences – including academic work and study abroad programs, as well as internships and real-life work experiences – to tell your story to graduate schools and future employers.

  • Identify and articulate professionally transferable strengths, skills, knowledge and experiences while understanding their values and drivers
  • Navigate and explore potential target industries, positions and career tracks
  • Pursue or generate opportunities
  • Build and nurture your professional network
  • Develop hard skills associated with a specific field (e.g. social media marketing, accounting, etc.)
