AUP Green was founded in Fall 2013 by students dedicated to creating efficient campus recycling and "Green" activities. The club intends to be a forum where students with environmental curiosity can congregate, share knowledge, and plan action regarding sustainability and the natural world. Since Fall 2015, the focus of AUP Green has been on the local community, i.e. the American University of Paris as well as Paris as a whole. We strive to inspire students to inhabit a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly lifestyle. We spread awareness on current environmental issues such as the agricultural business and its impacts on the environment as well as identify and inform students of local events directed at environmentally friendly practices.
Camolie Fagerberg from Sweden is a senior at AUP studying psychology and applied statistics. During high school she trained in a dance conservatory with the dream of pursuing a dance career. Health and wellness was always a huge interest and she mentored and taught young children dance for several years. During her first semester at AUP she enrolled in the First Bridge Politics and Science of Global Warming, which sparked her interest in climate and led her to develop a passion for the cause. At AUP she was previously co-president of Roots & Shoots but decided to take over AUP Green with the hope of making it a more established club under the ECS (although she remains involved with Roots & Shoots as vice-president). She wants to erase the established split between humanitarian and environmental actions because she advocates that without a functioning environment and climate, all humanitarian actions are in vain.
