IRIS Project

Yours, in the storm

Home>IRIS Project>

As Bob pointed out last month, the IRIS project is an ambitious one, built with a tailored budget by a team which has been waiting for more than 10 years for a state-of-the-art system compatible with their professional drive to give all of their best. The decision was to start the project with the departments which did not benefit from the first wave of IT modernization in 2010 – Human Resources, Finance and Comptrolling and Procurement which still did not have a dedicated Enterprise system.  Setting up the system required a complete overhaul of policies and procedures, questioning the reasoning behind them, revising or modifying existing rules, creating new rules and abolishing those which no longer seemed pertinent.  In some cases, rules had to be revised because of the constraints imposed by the software itself.
The different teams accepted the challenge head-on, and there was never any suggestion of giving up when the going got tough.  The summer has been a lot less quiet than it usually is, but we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
By the end of the 2023 calendar year, we believe we will be able to offer the AUP community a modern and interactive HR tool, greatly improved over what was available in the past.  At the same time, we will benefit from new high-performing, automated budget planning tools.
In 2023-24, a new Procurement system (and policy) will help improve purchasing workflows, bringing greater transparency, efficiency and accountability.
We will need a large dose of goodwill from everyone while we iron out the kinks of this new system, but the collective benefit will be more than worth it!
We will communicate in greater detail, particularly concerning the necessary user training during the fall.
