The University’s Board of Trustees sets policy and direction, and performs the crucial governance function of oversight. The Board exercises fiduciary responsibility for AUP and sets the course for the University’s long-term development. It exercises oversight over budget and finance; the University’s buildings and grounds and its investments; academic rigor and annual program- and unit-level assessment; accreditation; admissions; and advancement. The members of the Board gather in France three times a year to discuss matters of long-term planning and university finances. The Board regularly engages the university community through its standing committees, and the alumni community through participation at annual and special events. The Board plays a central role in fundraising, spearheading advancement, and supporting the president. Feel free to contact the Board for more information.

Statement by the Board of Trustees, Adopted July 17, 2020
The Board of Trustees of The American University of Paris (AUP) is committed to building and sustaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive community.
Our distinctive strength is in our multinational student body, representing more than 100 nationalities and speaking more than 60 languages. With a strong and ongoing commitment to racial diversity, equity and inclusion, we will develop braver explorers, deeper thinkers, greater innovators, stronger communicators, and more compassionate collaborators.
We acknowledge that this objective requires a concentrated effort by all – the faculty, the administration and the board, in behalf of all students – to assure implementation of a broad range of ongoing initiatives and actions that impact campus climate; faculty, student and board recruitment; curriculum content; and student life.
This will foster an environment in which AUP students develop the skills to be empathetic and courageous global citizens who are well equipped to advocate for a more just world.
In particular, we challenge ourselves to assure a dynamic environment in which people of all colors, backgrounds and perspectives learn together and from each other. As AUP educates current and future students, we believe they should be free to learn and develop in the absence of overt or subtle racism.
AUP’s nearly 60-year history is rooted in the core value of social justice. We honor these roots and, accordingly, align our actions, values and mission to ensure a better future for us all.
