The Role of the Board of Trustees

The University’s Board of Trustees sets policy and direction, and performs the crucial governance function of oversight. The Board exercises fiduciary responsibility for AUP and sets the course for the University’s long-term development. It exercises oversight over budget and finance; the University’s buildings and grounds and its investments; academic rigor and annual program- and unit-level assessment; accreditation; admissions; and advancement. The 24 members of the Board gather in France three times a year to discuss matters of long-term planning and university finances. The Board regularly engages the university community through its standing committees, and the alumni community through participation at annual and special events. The Board plays a central role in fundraising, spearheading advancement, and supporting the president. Feel free to contact the Board for more information.
