An Evening with Han Kang and Deborah Smith, Winners of the 2016 Man Booker International Prize

Monday, September 19, 2016 - 19:00

The Center for Writers and Translators is delighted to host an evening with South Korean novelist Han Kang and her translator, Tilted Axis Press founder Deborah Smith. The two were recently awarded the prestigious Man Booker International Prize for The Vegetarian, which the jury described as a "compact, exquisite and disturbing book [that] will linger long in the minds, and maybe the dreams, of its readers". AUP professor of comparative literature Daniel Medin, a member of this year's MBI judging panel, joins them for a conversation about the novel and its resonance worldwide. Copies of The Vegetarian will be available for purchase after the event. This event is organised by the AUP Center for Writers and Translators, with the generous assistance of LTI Korea and Shakespeare & Co., and is open to all.

Those looking to attend from outside the AUP community must register in advance by contacting dmedinataup.edu.

We would like to thank LTI Korea for their generous support in bringing Han Kang to Paris.
