Retention and Graduation Rates

Retention Rates

First-Time Full-Time Degree-Seeking Student (First-Year) Retention Rate by Entering Cohort:

Entering Cohort Fall 2014 Fall 2015 Fall 2016 Fall 2017 Fall 2018 Fall 2019 Fall 2020 Fall 2021
Rate 71.25% 69.57% 71.01% 67.05% 69.68%  66.46% 77.60% 67.81%

This rate is calculated using the incoming fall, first-time (non-transfer but may have advanced credits through IB, AP, or other methods), full-time (more than 12 credit hour), incoming degree-seeking student population as the denominator. The numerator is the number from that population who enroll again in the next fall term following their initial fall. The entering cohort is the term in which the first-time, full-time incoming degree-seeking student entered the university with that status.

4-, 5-, and 6- year Graduation Rates:

Entering Cohort Fall 2012 Fall 2013 Fall 2014 Fall 2015 Fall 2016
4-year rate 40.56% 50.39% 41.88% 38.59% 44.38%
5-year rate 48.33%  60.47%  56.25%  47.83% 55.62%
6-year rate 48.89%  62.02%  57.50%  51.63% 57.30%

These rates are calculated using the incoming non-transfer degree-seeking population as the denominator and determine how many students from those populations graduate within a specified time frame. For this purpose, a year is defined as an academic year, August to July.
