In 2022, The American University of Paris was thrilled to be announced as the winner of four commendations in the CASE Circle of Excellence Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement in educational advancement. AUP’s initiatives were selected from more than 4,500 entries from 636 institutions in nearly 30 countries based on their overall quality, innovation, use of resources and impact.

CASE – the Council for Advancement and Support of Education – is a global, not-for-profit membership association with a vision to advance education to transform lives and society. Their Circle of Excellence Awards are the premier recognition program for educational advancement. These peer-selected and adjudicated awards honor colleges, universities and schools worldwide whose talented staff have advanced their organizations with resourcefulness and ingenuity.

2016 Silver Case Circle of Excellence Award

Since 1974, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has helped educational institutions strengthen relationships between donors and alumni, while encouraging growth and diversity within the profession and promoting the importance of education worldwide. It is therefore a particular honor for The American University of Paris to have been named the 2016 Silver Award Winner in Strategic Communications: Issues & Crisis Management. This distinction is part of CASE’s 2016 Circle of Excellence awards program and recognizes AUP’s crisis outreach in the aftermath of the November 2015 Paris attacks.

The judges deemed AUP’s response truly remarkable in the face of such tragedy and loss of human life. They praised the University’s mass-contact system, which allowed for confirmation of student and faculty safety within 48 hours, as well as the swiftness with which the University addressed its community’s concerns. The judges also highlighted AUP’s efforts to maintain open channels of communication and trust between all members of its far-flung community by means of, initially, daily letters, followed by the President’s monthly newsletterThe View from AUP, which chronicles the collective journey to keep the AUP community united, safe and informed.

In 2016, CASE received more than 3,350 entries in nearly 100 categories, with AUP being the only institution outside the US, the UK and the British Commonwealth to receive an award.
