Since 2016, The American University of Paris (AUP), in partnership with the Democracy & Culture Foundation, has nominated two undergraduate students each year to serve as AUP Ambassadors to the Athens Democracy Forum. Held annually in the fall semester, the Forum brings together diverse voices and perspectives to strengthen democratic resilience in the face of rising inequality, accelerating climate crisis, democratic backsliding, rapid technological transformation, and weakened multilateral governance.
AUP ambassadors join students from other member institutions of the Global Liberal Arts Alliance, with the goal of contributing to a globally balanced and intellectually rigorous exchange of ideas. The Forum’s program is designed to:
Prepare students to engage meaningfully in decision-making processes that will shape their futures
Foster global perspectives through collaboration with peers across regions
Facilitate direct dialogue with leaders from business, civil society, government, and international organizations
