NOMINATING A TUTOR
Nominations are considered at the start of the semester. There is a deadline by which faculty must communicate their nominations. At the beginning of the semester, this deadline is communicated to all faculty via email. Nominations after the deadline can be considered, but they are not guaranteed to turn into a tutor position.
Faculty wishing to nominate one or more students for a tutoring position in ARC or the Writing Lab may contact us via email at: arc [at] aup.edu (arc[at]aup[dot]edu).
PLAGIARISM AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
The Writing Lab helps students avoid plagiarism and teaches them how to cite their sources. Resources on citing are always available at the ARC. Support for faculty in combating plagiarism and increasing awareness among their students is also available in ARC. Faculty wishing to report violations of academic integrity should contact the Office of Academic Integrity and use the incident resolution form [word].
WORKSHOPS & Resources
The Accessibility Support Office (ASO) offers workshops and resources every semester designed to support faculty. Themes include (but are not limited to): Working with Students with Disabilities, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Accessibility in the Classroom, and Time Management for University Students. ASO staff are available to present information at department meetings and/or design small group workshops for academic departments. ASO can work with faculty directly to create resources based on need and interest.
Additionally, ASO Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and the Library to support experimental and pedagogical initiatives, as well as projects in the digital humanities. Please contact us at accessibility [at] aup.edu (accessibility[at]aup[dot]edu) for further information.
Disability ACCOMMODATIONS
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), AUP provides in-class and exam accommodations to students with registered disabilities. These accommodations are mandated by law and state that institutions must ensure that individuals are not discriminated against based on their disability. The purpose of accommodations is to reduce or eliminate any disadvantages that may exist because of an individual’s disability. Accommodations do not alter learning objectives or program requirements for successful degree completion. Instead, they help maintain an equitable academic experience for all students.
By law, information regarding a student’s accommodation is confidential unless made public by the student. Any communication with the student regarding this matter should be conducted privately.
