Campus Development History

Guided by our campus development plan, the complete physical transformation of the campus has allowed us to honor our past while meeting the needs of a 21st Century community of global explorer students.

The Bosquet building.

It Began with Bosquet

Our beloved Bosquet, home to many learning and other important AUP adventures over the years, was the foundation on which we built the campus transformation plan. The building’s physical plant ultimately presented more obstacles than opportunities, and its sale in 2014 opened the way for the next generation of teaching and learning spaces.

The complete physical transformation of the campus has been geared towards maintaining AUP’s historical character, while at the same time meeting student and faculty expectations for modern learning spaces and technology.

Timeline of Renovations

Four years ago we began an audacious project to transform the AUP campus. So far, thanks to the support of the AUP community, we have accomplished the following major projects:

  • 2014 – Renovation of the Combes building to create a Student Life Center.
  • 2015 – Renovation and expansion of 102, rue Saint-Dominique to create six classrooms, faculty offices and a student mail center.
  • 2015 – Consolidation of central administrative units into a new building on boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg.
  • 2016 – Renovation of the Grenelle building to create a Teaching and Mentoring Center.
  • 2017 – Purchase of the Quai d’Orsay building and launch of its renovation to combine it with the Combes building to create a Student Life and Learning Center.

Once our most ambitious project – 69, quai d’Orsay - is completed, our expanded yet consolidated campus will consist of five newly renovated buildings. The Quai will contain such services as the AUP library and bookstore previously located in separate buildings. Our goal of creating a student-centered Parisian campus – designed to foster active learning, innovative pedagogies and student interaction across our vast diversity – is in sight.
