If you are joining us for one of our summer courses at The American University of Paris, you can take advantage of the different summer housing options that the University has to offer. Use of the Housing Office’s services over the summer is not mandatory; however, please note that if you’re extending your stay into the fall semester you will be required to book housing through the university’s first-year residency requirement.

Student Apartments - BlueStripe

AUP works closely with a third-party company, BlueStripe Living, to house students together as apartment mates in one, two, and three bedroom apartments. Students can opt for a single-occupancy room or share a bedroom with a roommate, and share the common rooms in their apartment (bathroom, living room, and kitchen) with 1-5 other residents, depending on the size of the apartment. Some studio apartments are also available. Apartments are fully furnished with bed linens, towels, and kitchen utensils. Prices are all-inclusive—they provide utilities, renter’s insurance, wifi, etc.—and no guarantor is required. Commuting time to AUP is 30 minutes or less, and all apartments are located within Paris city limits.

Please note that this option is intended for university-aged students. Visitors and auditors over the age of 28 who would like to reserve student housing through AUP are encouraged to reserve a single room in a residence hall (see below.)

Address and roommate contact information will be distributed to students via BlueStripe Living no later than two weeks prior to arrival.

Single rooms in student residence halls

AUP reserves single rooms at Paris’ Cité Universitaire for the summer session. Rooms are located in an art déco residence hall with other exchange students. The residence is about 30 minutes commute to campus with public transit. Students have access to a kitchen on each floor, a library, living rooms, a TV room, and a laundry room (coin and cash operated in the basement.) Residents are required to store food and consume meals only in the designated dining areas.

Two room options are possible:

  • Classic rooms with vintage wooden furniture, sink in the room, shared shower and toilet in the hall.
  • Comfort renovated rooms with ensuite bathroom and newer furnishings.

Classic rooms are available for June stays or 6 week stays.

Comfort rooms are available for July stays only.

Please note that visitors are permitted until midnight, however overnight guests require advanced registration and additional payment. Overnight guests must be registered and paid for at least 48 hours prior to their stay.

Exact residence location will be confirmed by AUP Residential Life after housing registration and payment have been completed.

Homestays

Very limited homestays are available, only for students enrolled in our French Immersion courses. Homestays include a single furnished room in an apartment or house, utilities, internet connection, daily kitchen access, washing machine access once a week, and one diner a week provided by your landlord. Each host is different - some have young children, while others are single retirees. This is a great option for students who want real-life practice speaking French, as many of our hosts speak limited English.

Cost of a homestay: €850 for one 3-week session, €1700 for the full six weeks.

If you are interested in a homestay, please fill out the homestay request form here.
