CVEC: Student and Campus Life Contribution

WHAT IS IT ?

Students admitted to an institution of higher education in France are subject to a fee known as the CVEC, which helps to finance on-campus programs that enhance the student experience. Only students currently pursuing a degree at another university (First-year abroad students and independent visiting students) are exempt from this fee.

Who needs to complete the CVEC?

COST / PAYMENT

• The amount of this annual fee for the 2026/2027 academic year is €105.
• The fee is to be paid directly to the French Authorities each year. AUP needs you to show proof of payment before you can check in for Fall 2026. You will not need to pay this fee again in Spring 2027 if you have already paid the fee in Fall 2026.
• The CVEC may be paid online or in cash at participating FDJ payment points (often found in press or tobacco shops). You will need to download a payment notice from your CVEC account and download the Nirio app to do so.

PREPARE THESE DOCUMENTS AS YOU WILL NEED TO UPLOAD THEM:

• A picture or scan of your ID document (passport, driver's license, government issued ID card)

NEXT STEPS

1. Go to cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr (for more information on the CVEC). 
2. Select the icon for your chosen method of payment (either “Payer en ligne” or “Payer en espèces”) to create your account and obtain your proof of payment. At present the payment platform is only available in French. Please follow the CVEC – AUP Student Guide.

3. Upload your “CVEC attestation” here (only for returning students; incoming students will need to upload their CVEC attestation to Slate, please contact your admissions counsellor for more information).  Please ensure the document you upload is the formal Attestation PDF; your proof of payment or a screenshot of the page will not be accepted.

    

Please Note:

• Save your “CVEC attestation” PDF as you will need it when you apply for Social Security in France
• Uploading your “CVEC attestation” will allow you to check in for the semester. If you do not check in, you risk your courses being dropped, as per our check-in policy.

What can I have access to through CVEC?

CROUS

CROUS restaurants are accessible to all AUP students. As of May 2026, all students — boursiers and non-boursiers alike — can benefit from the €1 meal offer at all CROUS restaurants and cafeterias, via their active Izly account. They offer a full menu (starter, main dish, dessert). Students need to present their student cards when paying to benefit from this offer.

1Euro meal offer/ IZLY Account:

Once you have paid the CVEC, you will receive an email sent to the email address you have provided with the title "Activating your Izly account". This email contains an activation link and a temporary secret code. Click on the activation link and enter the secret code to be redirected to the activation form. Please look for this email in your spam.

After that, you would need to create your IZlY identification account (email, first name/last name or your phone number).

Once you completed all these steps, you will be able to charge your IZLY account, which will allow you to benefit from the 1Euro offer.

If you don’t receive an activation email for Izly, you need to email assistance-izly [at] crous-paris.fr (assistance-izly[at]crous-paris[dot]fr) with the following information:

• Full name
• Date of birth
• Student Number: (you can obtain this from the PDF you upload to AUP to prove your CVEC payment)
• Name of school
• Email address
• Phone number
• CROUS city: Paris

Once you receive the code, you will be able to activate your account online.

Frequently asked Questions

Does this apply to me as well, as a French citizen?

Yes, absolutely. It applies to all students in France.

I will graduate from AUP at the end of the Fall semester, do I still have to pay this fee?

Yes you do. This annual fee is due every academic year, even if you don’t stay for the whole year.

Can AUP pay this fee and charge my student account?

No, as per governmental regulations every student has to pay themselves and present their payment attestation to their university. AUP students upload their attestation here.

I am only registered into an Internship or a Thesis Extension semester, do I owe CVEC?

Your internship/thesis registration gives you student status, therefore you owe the CVEC fee.

Payment by Cash 

NOTE for paying in cash - If you decide to pay in cash, you will need to download a payment notice from the CVEC website and the Nirio application on your phone. You will need to upload your ID to the app and go to an FDJ (Française des Jeux) payment point, often found in French press and tobacco shops (Tabac). You must make the payment within 2 days once you have chosen this option. Please follow our CVEC guide for instructions on how to pay in cash.
