Explore the Château of Fontainebleau, nested within a vast forest and one of the major sites of the artistic investment of French kings between 1528 and the building of Versailles.The visit begins by looking at the exterior of the building and its gardens, while tracking the passage from a minor medieval hunting lodge to a sophisticated and daring Renaissance residence that remained the site of impressive rebuilding and artistic transformation into the 19th century.
