Doha: Politics and Culture

Participants were selected in December through an online application form.

The Government Communication Office of the State of Qatar has offered to sponsor a trip to Doha for 11 AUP students. The study trip, Qatar: Politics and Culture, is designed to help students understand Qatari culture, as well as its domestic and foreign policies, including its importance for American/ NATO and European global strategy in the region. Meet and talk with high level Qatari government officials, corporate executives, as well as Qatari students. Visit places of social and political importance such as Al Jazeera, Katara, Aspire, the Islamic Art Museum, the National Museum, the Qatar Sate Mosque, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among other government agencies.

Participation Fees: 120€ (includes includes round-trip air transportation, hotel accommodations with breakfast, on-site transportation, entrance fees, guided visits, professors’ trip costs, and VAT)

Last day to register/cancel: November 28, 2019 • Late cancellation fee: 120€

Payment for study trips must be made no later than January 31 for the Spring 2020 semester. Any concerns in this regard should be addressed to the Cultural Program & Student Accounting Services.

Registration for study trips is done the same way as registration for academic courses: through the registration portal on MyAUP Student Services: my.aup.edu > MyAccount > My Student Services > Registration. Study trip payments can be sent the same way as tuition: online by credit card on my.aup.edu/payment/tuition, via bank transfer, or in person with cash/check.
