Students on a theater trip in Iceland.
The Care & Democracy Seminar Series explores how the relational dimensions of care, traditionally centered on dependency and moral responsibility, can deepen our understanding of democratic practices. By examining care as a normative and political framework, the seminars interrogate how care ethics challenges conventional liberal-democratic ideals, reshaping conceptions of citizenship, power, and social cohesion. Speakers in the 2025-2026 academic year include: Sandra Laugier (Paris I), Zona Zarić (AUP), Carol Gilligan (NYU), Stephen Sawyer (AUP), Pascal Molinier (Sorbonne Paris Nord), Barbara Szaniecki (ESDI), Giuseppe Cocco (UFRJ), Estelle Ferrarese (Université de Picardie Jules Verne), Juliet Williams (UCLA), Hannah Taieb (AUP), and Catherine Larrère (Paris I). This seminar series is organised by Sandra Laugier & Zona Zarić.
