AUP Community Sets Second Consecutive Giving Day Record

Home>News>

The AUP community has a history of generosity, and once again that generosity was firmly on display at our most recent Giving Day, which took place on November 18, 2021. For the second year running, our community broke its own record for the most individual donors in a single day: 219 donors raised over $230,000 in support of AUP students.

“The Office of Outreach and Advancement extends a huge thank you to everyone who came together on Giving Day to donate, spread the word and advocate for AUP students,” said Mary McLean Evans, Vice President for Presidential Initiatives at AUP. For the second year running, the #MakeParisPossible campaign invited donors to give to causes across the University that aim to make an AUP education more accessible and improve the student experience on campus.

Of the 219 donors who contributed, 142 gave directly to establishing the University’s endowment, the Celeste Schenck Presidential Scholarship Fund. The endowment, named for outgoing AUP President Celeste M. Schenck, ensures lasting support for AUP students in need of financial aid. “Supporting endowed scholarships at AUP helps make Paris possible not just for today’s students, but also for future generations of global explorers,” said Evans.

Other funds supported on Giving Day include the AUP Annual Fund, which raises unrestricted funding for ongoing projects across the University that strengthen its strategic priorities, and the Coup de Pouce fund, which provides financial assistance for students who need it to attend Cultural Program study trips – a cornerstone of the AUP experience. The AUP Parents Fund, through which parents and families provide valuable resources for an unparalleled educational experience in and beyond the classroom, also received Giving Day support.

Any gift, large or small, helps AUP achieve its strategic priorities through student scholarships, campus development and day-to-day mentorship and student support. The Giving Day numbers tell a story of solidarity that is characteristic of our diverse, global community.
