Dr. Purcell is an Australian cognitive psychologist investigating how human reasoning interacts with pressing global issues such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and gender inequality. Her research focuses on the role of cognitive factors like confidence and analytic thinking in decision-making, using behavioural experiments, eye tracking, and computational approaches. Dr. Purcell earned her PhD in Psychology from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia (2020) and held a postdoctoral position at the Artificial and Natural Intelligence Institute of Toulouse (ANITI) & Institute of Advanced Studies Toulouse (IAST), University of Toulouse (2020–2023).
