Alumni Success

At The American University of Paris, we believe that delivery of our mission can be measured by the impact of our graduates on the world.  No matter where they go next, the academic work that our graduates have engaged in while at AUP and the learning experiences they have had outside the classroom have prepared them for leadership roles in the world beyond the University. Exposure to many academic disciplines and cultural perspectives, a deep dive into their major area of specialization, and opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-life settings all of this has provided our graduates with the expertise and skills to ensure professional success. We know that for all of our global explorers, what they accomplish here is just the beginning of what they will achieve after graduation.

AUP opened my eyes to a new world of possibilities and gave me the education, the skills and the drive to do the work that I do today. AUP can be transformational for those who have the opportunity to study there – it certainly was for me

The Statistics of Success

We regularly ask our alumni for updates on their progress since graduation through an annual “Next Destinations” survey of the last three classes. Our most recent survey of the classes of 2012, 2013, and 2014 (we survey 18 months after graduation) revealed the same stellar results as the ones before. A full 93% of undergraduates and 85% of graduate students had found employment within one year of graduation. The majority of alumni were certain that their AUP experience had been essential to their pursuit of their careers, which, for 87% of them, had an international element to them.

  • 93%
of graduates are employed or in graduate school within one year of graduation
  • 142
countries that our alumni live and work in
  • 9/10
alumni speak two or more languages

The majority of our alumni report that they are working in a language other than their native tongue, and that faculty played an important role in their success. The importance of working with faculty mentors and the integrated Center for Advising, Career Development, Internships, and Leadership to obtain professional internships is key, as our graduates were 2.5 times more likely to find a job within six months of graduation if they had done an internship while at AUP.

Alumni Stories

There’s no getting around it: our alumni are changing the world. They’re developing healthcare software, teaching in establishments across the globe, growing family businesses or incubating new business ideas, leading sustainability initiatives, accomplishing disaster relief, rising in local governments, building communities, consulting worldwide, acting and filmmaking across borders, contributing articles to internationally-respected publications, studying at world-renowned institutions, and promoting French culture and language worldwide. Here are just a few of our amazing graduates whose ranks you’ll join in just a few years.
