The Civic Media Lab supports research, teaching, and innovation on the relationship between media, new technologies, civic life, and social justice.  We currently focus on four research areas, although projects are often sited across categories: 

 

Coexist: Culture and Conflict 

Fostering understanding of national and global contexts and the digital skills to promote understanding and co-existence amongst communities of different ethnicities or religions

Digital Civil Society 

Research on the relationship between digital tools, civil societies, and democratic practices

Creation and research in the areas of new media art, hacking/critical making, sound, and listening
