AUP Students Shine at 2025 UAB Model United Nations Competition

Home>News>

With over 160 delegates reporting, some of the world’s most prestigious universities flocked to the 2025 UAB Model United Nations Competition, from which AUP students emerged with the weekend’s top accolades.

Artem Atamanov, Angel Karchev, and Carson Hall (pictured left to right) took home the prize for “Best Delegate,” awarded to delegates for an outstanding performance and high level of preparation and knowledge within their committee. Artem participated in the Crisis Commitee as Jose Manuel Albares, Angel participated in the Historical UN Security Council as Rwanda, and Carson participated in in the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

The delegation’s success marks the rising profile of AUP’s MUN program, first founded in 1985 as the AUP Debate and Politics Club. Competing alongside students from prestigious universities in Spain, the UK, Germany, and France, our students engaged in topics including vaccine distribution equity, responding to genocide and fostering indigenous leadership in global governance. As the next generation of leaders assembled in Barcelona to engage, compete, and learn from one another, AUP’s delegates demonstrated the impact of AUP’s inherently international approach to a liberal arts education and excellence in diplomacy.

Congratulations to all the AUP MUN delegates for their outstanding performance and making a remarkable impact at this year’s UABMUN 2025.
