Imagine a group of student journalists in their new media lab and production studio publishing The Peacock and The Plume, a journal and website of superior quality that focus on AUP’s, and Paris’s, rich diversity. Imagine a college freshman working alongside the evolutionary biologist who is her professor to accomplish important research on kinship systems and gender in the animal world. Imagine a group of graduate students traveling for a month to India to work with NGOs that are championing sustainable solutions for women and children, designing with them websites, outreach programs and fundraising drives. Each of these students is a scholarship student at AUP, contributing to the extraordinary diversity of our learning community.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between student need and institutional capacity through steady, reliable, community-building giving to AUP’s scholarship funds. An endowed gift or a commitment of a multi-annual contribution will allow us to offer more of our most distinctive scholarships: AUP Scholar Awards cover 75% of the tuition fee of a talented AUP student and is typically awarded to those with excellent academic promise, global perspective, significant extracurricular activities and demonstrated financial need. AUP Global Citizenship Awards permit us to enroll the most talented, internationally oriented students who have proven to be a strong fit with AUP’s academic and experiential offerings. A contribution to our scholarship fund is an investment in the individual lives of AUP’s most deserving students and in the cultural and social fabric of our student community.

Named Scholarship Funds

Named and endowed scholarships are also critical additions to our capacity to meet student need with financial support. We pride ourselves on educating global citizens and future leaders. We are committed to supporting the education of our dynamic and engaged students that create a truly diverse, international student body on campus. We offer two specific named funds through which you can support their education:

The Pat Thompson Scholarship Fund

One of AUP’s first endowed scholarships, the Pat Thompson Scholarship Fund supports the studies of a communications student who can demonstrate both financial need and extraordinary promise. The disbursement to the scholarship recipient will come only from the interest earned on the fund, as our aim is to keep the scholarship in place in perpetuity.

Pat was an impassioned journalist, producer, filmmaker, and gifted teacher who knew what it meant to come from limited resources and to work hard to have access to high-quality higher education. This scholarship in her name honors her spirit, her passion for the classroom, and her commitment to helping young people achieve their dreams in the communications field.

Make sure to select the Pat Thompson Scholarship Fund when making your gift online.

The Nutsa Makhviladze Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund, created to honor the memory of Nutsa Makhviladze, enables talented students from Georgia, like Nutsa, to join our community and enjoy an international education in Paris. Nutsa was a remarkable, gifted student from Georgia, whose passion to live and thrive in this world shone on so many during her time at AUP. She was greatly loved by her fellow students and faculty members.

The Nutsa Makhviladze Memorial Scholarship Fund will be awarded every year to an exceptional student from Georgia, ensuring we continue to encourage students from this part of the world to join our global community.

Make sure to specify the Nutsa Makhviladze Memorial Scholarship Fund as your gift designation on your wire transfer or check or when making your gift online.
