Once you have confirmed your attendance by completing the confirmation deposit payment, navigate to your AUP Status Page to indicate whether you would like to register for AUP Housing, apply for an exemption from AUP Housing (first-year students) or opt out of AUP Housing (transfer students and non-first-year visiting students).
Students who have elected to book AUP Housing will have the Indicate Your Housing Preferences form appear on their AUP Status Page at the following dates:
| Students | Date |
|---|---|
|
First Year, Gap & First Year Abroad Students |
Friday, May 15th at 4pm (Paris time) |
|
Visiting, Transfer & COOP Students |
Thursday, May 21st at 4pm (Paris time) |
Only the housing options available to you will be listed for you to select. Priority is given based on submission time. The earlier you register, the better your chances of securing your housing preference. Completing this step is not a confirmation of registration. The Housing Office will reach out to you to confirm your registration based on availability.
We may not be able to place you in your first or second choice as beds are limited. In some cases, all the preferences of a specific submission may be booked by the time we process the student’s form. Should that be the case, we will contact the student for new preferences based on updated availability.
Our shared housing does not allow for mixed sex and gender allocations. We are working on expanding our inclusive housing offering for our LGBTQA+ students, including those who identify as gender non-binary or gender-fluid, as we continue building our roster of AUP-managed residences.
Students identifying as gender non-binary, gender-fluid, or transgender will have access to single studios. We prioritize their housing assignment to ensure they are placed within those options, especially as we want to make sure that they feel safe in their housing; this is why students can indicate their gender identity in their housing preference form.
If you know someone also attending AUP starting Fall 2026 with whom you wish to share a room or apartment, you will be able to request them as a roommate in your housing preferences form on your AUP status page. Students are guaranteed to room with their requested roommate provided that they a) both request each other and b) both submit the same shared housing preferences in the same order on their form. Should you wish to prioritize your residence preference over your roommate request, please indicate this in the comment section of your housing preference form.
If you do not already have a roommate in mind but would still like to register for shared housing, we will be sending a roommate lifestyle survey to match students in shared housing based on their living habits and preferences.
The process for requesting accessibility accommodations for priority housing placement is managed by the Accessibility Support Office in collaboration with the Housing office. This process includes completing all the housing forms listed above in addition to submitting the Accessibility Accommodations form under the “Visa and Health” tab of your AUP Status Page. Please read the process for requesting accommodations within AUP Housing in our Housing and Accessibility Accommodations page.
Students wishing to be exempt from the housing requirement due to accessibility needs can request a housing exemption by following the steps outlined in our Housing Requirement page.
After the housing office has processed preference form submissions, students will receive a housing assignment email with the details of their reservation and billing information.
The housing assignment is confirmed through completion of the first payment. A Confirm Your Housing Assignment form will appear on your AUP Status Page after your housing assignment has been processed. Students must confirm their housing assignment by the deadline. More information on the payment deadlines and policies are available in our Payment & Refund Policies page.
Students who have completed the first payment and confirmed their housing will have access to the remaining enrollment steps on their checklist, including course registration. All remaining housing payments must be completed by the stated deadlines.
Students will receive communication with information to prepare their arrival to Paris in the months before move in. This includes more details about the amenities and furnishings of their assigned residence, advice on what to pack for their stay, logistical information about Landing Day, and roommate assignments for students in shared housing.
Students in shared housing will be invited to complete a Roommate Lifestyle Survey in the assignment email. It is important for all students in shared housing to complete this survey as soon as they receive it, including students who have requested a roommate in their preference form:
As cancellations may happen after registration, the housing office uses this survey for the most updated housemate/roommate requests, so it is important that you confirm your request through the survey.
In shared units, students are assigned both roommates and housemates within the unit. You are guaranteed to be placed with your requested roommate; we will still, however, need to review your living preferences to match you both with additional housemates within the unit.
Yes, you are able to choose different housing options within the same location for your first or second choice.
Yes. Due to the high number of submissions our office receives upon opening the registration form, we might not be able to process some of the last submissions in the first round due to some housing options being filled.
If you are confident that you know a fellow incoming student with whom your living preferences and habits are compatible, you can definitely request them as a roommate in your housing preference form. We do urge you to be careful and to thoroughly discuss your living preferences before requesting anyone as a roommate: great friends do not always make great roommates. In considering roommate requests with other incoming students, make sure to discuss the following topics: budget and the preferences you both wish to select in your forms, study and sleeping habits, tidiness and weekly chores, personal values, and social habits.
Unfortunately, we are not able to switch housing assignments once they have been issued to students. If you have received your third or fourth preference, this means that your top ranked preferences were filled by the time we processed your submission.
