Fall 2019

Oxford - Alice's Wonderland

Tuesday, September 17, 2019 - 17:00 to Thursday, September 19, 2019 - 19:00

MA1091FB7 The Mathematical Imagination
CL1091FB7 The Literary Imagination

Get to know the academic and eccentric facets of Oxford. Marvel at its buildings and bridges that represent the major architectural styles from the medieval to the neoclassical. Enter the city’s temples of learning, attend a math lecture on mathematicians managing soccer teams! Uncover a less well-known, odd, quirky side of Oxford, visiting specific places - like spots on the Thames river, Alice’s Shop and the Great Hall (aka Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series) – that inspired the Oxford Mathematician Charles Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) to invent Alice in Wonderland.

Led by Professors Rika Roy and Nahid Walji

Cost: 560€ (includes round-trip train transportation, hotel accommodation with breakfast, on-site transportation, entrance fees, guided visits, professors’ trip costs and VAT)
