Provost Taskforces & Other Committees

To advance AUP’s strategic initiatives, the Provost regularly establishes ad hoc task forces and committees. These agile groups complement our standing faculty governance by tackling specific, time-sensitive projects. Because they are formed to meet current university needs, the roster of active committees evolves annually.

First Year Council

The First Year Council, currently composed of five staff, five faculty, and student representatives, oversees AUP’s integrated first-year experience, ensuring programs remain coherent, supportive and responsive to student needs. Its work spans all first-year initiatives, from orientation and the common read to workshops, mentorship structures and collaboration with FirstBridge, equipping students with the skills and guidance needed to navigate their first year in a multicultural, liberal arts environment. Because of this broad remit, it is jointly overseen by the Provost and the Vice President of Student Life.

AI@AUP

With the increased use of AI in our society, AUP decided to create a taskforce to gather input and information on how we should handle AI on a university-wide level. Institutional Effectiveness Steering Committee (IESC)

The IESC works together with the Dean of Assessment as an ad-hoc committee. The committee’s mission is to define and guide the institutional effectiveness process at AUP.
