By invitation of the Center for Writers & Translators and the Department of Comparative Literature & English, Christina Hesselholdt will read from her English-language debut, Companions, which the The New York Times praised for its 'penetrating insights into the texture of lived experience...in moments of vivid imagery and unexpected humor'. Born in 1962, Hesselholdt studied at the Danish Academy of Creative Writing in Copenhagen. She has written fifteen books of prose; her latest publication in Danish, a novel about the photographer Vivian Maier, won the Danish Radio Best Novel Award and was a finalist for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2017.
