AUP President Celeste Schenck will warmly welcome members of the Founding Classes to her home to launch the reunion by raising a glass to the rich history of the University.

Enjoy a casual breakfast with Reverend Dr Scott Herr, the senior pastor of the American Church in Paris and an AUP parent, who will answer questions about the American Church today and the close relationship that continues between it and the University.

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM ACP to AUP: New Directions Panel

Participate in a discussion with alumni and faculty on the evolution of our campus and presence in Paris since the University was founded in 1962. This panel will include members of the Founding Classes as well as those who followed their path, reflecting on ACP, its journey to the AUP of today, and aspirations for the AUP of tomorrow.

4:30 PM – 9:30 PM Cultural Tour and dinner at The Musée d'Orsay with Professor Shimony

Enjoy visiting and having dinner with Professor Jonathan Shimony who will take you through the museum to discover radical art during 19th century France, within his theme of The Artists' Revolt Against Convention. We shall examine seminal works in the Musée d'Orsay's collection that illustrate how the avant-garde in France freed both the subject matter and techniques for the modernists as artists gradually emancipated themselves from the conventions of "Le Salon."

Professor Shimony graduated from Harvard College’s visual and environmental studies department with highest honours in 1987. Thanks to a Luce Foundation Scholarship he was able to study in Japan at the Tokyo School of Art where he was awarded a diploma of higher studies in 1989. He returned to the United States to continue his education at the Massachusetts College of Art and obtained an MFA in 1991. Jonathan won a Fulbright Scholarship to France in 1994 to be the Artist in Residence at the Ecole Duperré (National School of Applied Arts) and has lived in Paris ever since.Shimony has had extensive exhibitions as well as commissions of his prints, paintings and sculptures in Europe, the US and in Asia.

Join alumna Lacy Audry as she shares her expertise on Paris’ coffee revolution. Lacy is a coffee aficionado and professional roaster. She will stimulate your coffee palate with offerings roasted in this incredible space. The Belleville Brûlerie in the 19eme is revered by coffee lovers in Paris, and is a primary provider of coffee to cafes all over the city.

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM Cultural tour with AUP Professor Emerita Kathleen Chevalier

Veteran AUP Professor Emerita Kathleen Chevalier will lead guests of the Founding Classes Reunion on a memorable tour of a historical visit of the Louvre from Medieval to Modern Times.

Kathleen Wilson-Chevalier received her PhD from the Université de Paris-IV and is Professor Emerita of The American University of Paris, where she taught Art History and gender courses until 2015. Wilson-Chevalier is a specialist of female patronage in the French Renaissance and has just published a third edited volume on women at the French court. She is presently working on the patronage of Renée de France, a French princess who became duchess of Ferrara, and that of Louise de Bourbon-Montpensier in the Loire Valley.
