Lancement : America In French / L'Amérique en français

Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer le lancement du numéro spécial de Contemporary French & Francophone Studies/SITES, « L’Amérique en français / “America” in French », co-dirigé par Roger Célestin, Anne-Marie Picard et Niv Schwartz. Consacré aux représentations francophones des États-Unis, ce dossier interroge ce que « l’Amérique » signifie aujourd’hui dans les lettres, les arts et les sciences humaines, de Chateaubriand à Mabanckou, en passant par Baudrillard, et tout particulièrement à l’ère Trump.


À travers une approche résolument interdisciplinaire, ce numéro réunira notamment des contributions de William Cloonan, Iris de Rode, Kanaté Dahouda, William Dow, Jacqueline Dutton, Steve Ekovich, Olivier Mannoni, Jean-Philippe Mathy, Warren Motte, Sébastien Natroll, Olivier Penot-Lacassagne, Andre Pettman, Anne-Marie Picard, Paul A. Scott, Niv Schwartz, Daniel Vaillancourt, Dominique Viart.
Ce projet entend offrir un regard pluriel, critique et contemporain sur les imaginaires, les discours et les usages de l’Amérique en français.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the special issue of Contemporary French & Francophone Studies/SITES, “America” in French / « L’Amérique en français », co-edited by Roger Célestin, Anne-Marie Picard, and Niv Schwartz. Focusing on French and Francophone representations of the United States, this issue explores what “America” means today in literature, the arts, and the humanities, from Chateaubriand to Mabanckou, by way of Baudrillard, and especially in the Trump era.


Bringing together a distinctly interdisciplinary range of perspectives, the issue will feature contributions by William Cloonan, Iris de Rode, Kanaté Dahouda, William Dow, Jacqueline Dutton, Steve Ekovich, Olivier Mannoni, Jean-Philippe Mathy, Warren Motte, Sébastien Natroll, Olivier Penot-Lacassagne, Andre Pettman, Anne-Marie Picard, Paul A. The project aims to offer a plural, critical, and contemporary account of the imaginaries, discourses, and uses of America in French.
