The American University of Paris is committed to supporting the professional development of our students. Professional experience in the form of an internship can be a fantastic way to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom, to expand on that knowledge, and to build a more competitive CV/resume. In addition to these benefits, students who complete internships learn about themselves. They discover novel jobs and industries. They confirm their longstanding curiosity or interest in a given field, or perhaps realize that what they imagined as their dream job is not actually a good fit. Internships are powerful in that they enable students to explore interests, jobs, and industries before finishing a degree.

At AUP, students have the option to register credit-bearing internships that can count as an open elective or towards the requirements of certain majors. Students who do not need academic credit are equally supported and encouraged to do an internship. With roughly 200 internships registered each year, many AUP graduates ultimately complete more than one internship. The Center for Internship and Career Advising is available to all students as they plan and search for an internship. The Center holds regular events and activities such as Internship Info Sessions, Resume Workshops, and LinkedIn Coaching Sessions. The Center also maintains an online job and internship opportunity database which is continuously updated with offers from AUP’s extensive employer network.

We know that internships are important, transformative experiences, and it just so happens that AUP students are doing some pretty amazing things. These AUP Intern Spotlights are designed to offer a behind the scenes look at AUP internship experiences.
